| PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE |

Admitted to practice law
in South Dakota in 1977. Staff attorney with East
River Legal Services 1977 to 1978. I have been in
private practice since 1979.
I have appeared before the United States Eighth
Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District
Court in South Dakota, the South Dakota Supreme
Court, and many of the Circuit Courts in South
Dakota.

Graduated from Lincoln
High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in May
1969.
Attended Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas,
The Experiment in International Living in Brattleboro,
Vermont, Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South
Dakota, and Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Graduated with Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1973,
double majors in political science and sociology.
Graduated with Juris Doctor degree from the American
University, Washington College of Law, in Washington,
D.C. in 1976. Dean's Fellow, Law Review, Publication
of an article called "Artificial Regulation
of Lake Superior, A Taking?" in the Environmental
Law Review.
Attended Yale University Divinity School in New
Haven, Connecticut, 1976.

I was born and raised
in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I am married with
two children. My bride is employed as a dental hygienist.
I worked while attending college, law school, and
divinity school. My work experience includes spending
a summer with a traveling carnival, commercial concrete
construction, Sears Roebuck & Company, Staff
Assistant to United States Congressman Philip E.
Ruppe, in Washington, D.C., law clerk for Jacobs,
Jacobs & Grudberg, in New Haven, Connecticut,
and law clerk for Carr, Jordan, Coyne & Savits
in Washington, D.C.
My hobbies include cooking, camping, home repair,
and riding motorcycles.
